Here's Our Story

History

In the year 1964, Keith B. Werninck set out to establish a lumber yard in St. Augustine. In the 50+ years that L. Werninck & Son’s has been in business, the goal has been clear; whether it’s one board or a truck load, to always do business in a genuinely personal manner. In doing so, Keith built a reputation in the area of giving personal service that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

Having a building background from a young age he knew that quality building products makes a difference, so that’s what he always provided his customers. Along with quality products, Keith always went the extra mile to help his customers with double checking drawings and providing accurate take-offs of plans. This served L. Werninck & Son’s well over the years, growing the business from one building on a small lot to six large buildings covering over 53,000 sf on 3.5 acres.

At the age of 83 while still working every day, Keith decided it was time to find someone that could continue the business in the same manner he had for the past 56 years. Keith and Arthur (Artie) White came to an agreement in late 2020 that Artie would acquire the business and continue to run it as a family-run business as Keith had since 1964
